-Education equity and access across income
Kevin Franklin’s primary focus as a doctoral candidate will be on education and workforce policy. After several years abroad teaching English in South Korea and China, Franklin returned to Richmond to earn his master’s in social work from VCU, where he focused on poverty and program administration. Issues of disparity in income and education remain his chief professional interests. Frankilin is a full-time VCU employee at the Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center, where he provides training and technical assistance in conjunction with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. In addition, he is the secretary of the Virginia Department of Education’s Distance Education Curriculum Panel. During his (mostly theoretical) free time, Franklin enjoys hiking, cooking and collecting records.
