Advising

Wilder School advising

At the Wilder School, we aim to create an atmosphere of mutual kindness and respect in which academic advisers provide accurate and timely advice to students. Undergraduate advising is divided into two categories: general and career advising.

Academic advising

Whether it involves scheduling classes, mapping out one of our combined or accelerated degree programs, filing a financial aid petition or talking about career opportunities in public service, Wilder School academic advisers are here to help you.¬†Experienced and conscientious, our professional academic advising staff is trained to provide assistance in interpreting policies and requirements, maximizing an individual’s academic success and enriching the overall educational experience.

The Wilder School processes advises in two separate offices. For information about the school’s baccalaureate program offerings or to schedule an appointment, contact the Office of Undergraduate Advising at (804) 827-0790 or at (804) 827-0789. For information about our master’s, certificate or Ph.D. programs, contact the Office of Graduate Student Services at (804) 828-6837 or wsgradvise@vcu.edu.

Please remember to call or schedule an appointment in advance, as advisers’ calendars fill up quickly. Additionally, students are strongly urged to read the relevant office descriptor in preparation for all advising appointments. These summaries provide helpful hints for handling specific academic queries as well as guidance for scheduling appointments.
